On this perfect day trip from Vienna to Prague you will learn the history of Prague and get to know the Bohemian culture. Prague is a lively and beautiful city containing several districts with UNESCO sights and monuments giving the city a special bohemian atmosphere. Prague city is divided by the river Vltava, one side has the Prague Castle district on the hill, the other has the old town square and the Jewish quarter. The two sides are connected by the famous 15th century old Charles bridge, nowadays used only as a bridge for pedestrians, and many newer bridges.
On reaching the city we will visit the Prague Castle and the St.Vitus Cathedral, the largest and most important church in Prague, dating from AD 925. Here you also can see the Royal Gardens of the Presidential Residence, if the timing is right, we may be lucky enough to see the Change of Guards ceremony which will take place each day at noon. From the Castle you will have the best views over the city.
We will continue our tour to the old town square of Prague, here you can see the historical “Astronomical Clock Tower”, it is also a suitable place for lunch at a traditional Czech restaurant. After lunch some time at leisure to visit the “Charles Bridge” and explore on foot. In the afternoon you sit back and enjoy further sights of the city from our vehicle.
Before heading back to Vienna, we will visit Prague’s main attraction Wenceslas Square. It is a busy spot and a real nightlife centre for Prague. It is situated between the old and new towns of Prague and the neoclassical building Czech’s “National Museum” adds to the beauty.
On the way back to Vienna time permitting we can visit the 9th century historic city called “Znojmo”, possibly for a nice coffee break!
Optional: On request this tour can be extended to visit the Royal Silver town “Kutna Hora”, the main attraction is the 14th century Gothic church and its Sedlec Ossary, decorated with sculls, bones and skeletons. This option you can discuss with your tour guide!
