Obersalzberg was the mountain village where Hitler had his country house, the Berghof.,
The Eagle’s Nest is located at 1834m high above the Bavarian Alps overlooking the town Berchtesgaden. The Eagle’s Nest (Kehlsteinhaus) was commissioned by the National Socialist (Nazi) party senior leader Martin Bormann. It was used for Hitler to meet exclusively with visiting dignatories and diplomats to impress them with the 360° spectacular views and it was an integral tool for the Third Reich. The road up to reach it is a unique experience and a milestone in road construction. It is inseparably linked with World War II and its history. In good weather conditions, you may choose to take lunch at the Eagle’s Nest restaurant with the breathtaking panoramic views. The highlights are the main presentation room, Eva Braun’s Tea room, the archive photograph gallery and the short hike up the hill to the cross with its carved Edelweiss flower.
Next we drive down into the valley and along make a short visit to the King’s Lake, the Jewel of the Bavarian Alps, is the deepest lake in Germany. We will drive you through the charming little town Berchtesgaden with its royal connections, on the way to Salzburg we see picturesque countryside.
