Highlights

This full day tour takes you to the historic Hungarian capital city Budapest and former second city of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The city Budapest came into being as a single city by uniting Buda on the west bank, with Pest on the east bank. connecting the two sides of the river Danube with the Chain Bridge. This bridge was the first stone bridge between Buda and Pest. Built in 1849, it is one of the most symbolic sights of Budapest.

Itinerary

Budapest City Highlights
Travelling from Vienna to Budapest before crossing the Austro-Hungarian border, a comfortable and enjoyable journey through the lowlands of the Austrian state of Burgenland, the red wine capital of Austria. We then cross western Hungary passing by the city of Gyor. It’s just a couple of hours journey to reach Budapest.
We begin our sightseeing with “Heroes Square”, on the way we will drive through the famous Andrassy Avenue. The Andrassy street, located in between the Octogon Square and the Heroes’ Square, is one of the most up market and expensive parts of Budapest with numerous palaces, villas, embassies and the House of Terror museum.
After a short coffee or lunch break, we continue our sightseeing tour to the Parliament building in famous Gothic architecture, Neo-Renaissance style Hungarian State Opera House and visiting the famous pedestrian street (Vaci Utca) Vaci Street.
Please note that the Hungarian Parliament offers daily conducted tours, it is only possible to visit the building through an authorized guide. The tickets are best booked in advance online Jegymester.hu, of course it is also possible to get the tickets through trying our luck on the day with standing in the lines for left overs and cancellations.
Next we explore the Buda district, on the way we make a photo stop to capture a great view.On the Buda side we will be visiting the UNESCO site of Buda Castle Quarter, The “Buda Castle” also known as the (“Royal Palace“) located on the Castle hill. We will also show you impressive “Fischerman’s Bastion” and the Mathias Church. On request our final stop could be “Margaret Island” Budapest’s recreational Island located in the middle of the Danube River in central Budapest, the island has parks for relaxation and other activities for leisure, at times even free concerts.
In late afternoon we will head back to Vienna enjoying the scenery and reflecting on the memories of Budapest.
