Itinerary

We drive to Oberndorf : The unique success story of a song: “Silent night, holy night” that it would touch the hearts of millions of people every year is quite something. It was first performed in Oberndorf in 1818. Joseph Mohr (priest) wrote the lyrics and Franz Xaver Gruber (teacher) was the composer. 300 translations in different languages and dialects are known worldwide.
Beside the Memorial Chapel we can visit the “Silent Night” museum. There the creation and spreading of the carol can be explored as well as the lives of Josef Mohr and Franz Xaver Gruber..
During the Christmas season a special “Silent Night” post office opens daily and a “Silent Night” stamp is issued. When you bring your letters and postcards with you they will be sent with the current stamp and will receive the special “Silent Night” postmark.
ADVENT AT HELLBRUNN PALACE
For the second part of the tour, on the way to the Advent Market at Hellbrunn Palace we drive through the picturesque German town of Laufen.
Hellbrunn Palace with its gardens and park was the Leisure Palace of Prince Archbishop Markus Sittikus. This wonderful location indeed glamorizes the charming Christmas Market decorated with illuminated Christmas Trees. You will arrive there at twilight so that you can enjoy the romantic atmosphere. If you are a “The Sound of Music” fan you have a chance to visit the Gazebo.
Then we return to Salzburg and you will be dropped off near Mirabel Gardens.

Important Info

Please be prepared there 30 min. prior to tour start (morning tour at 08:30 and for afternoon tour 13:30) for pick-up. You either can be the 1^st ones to be picked up or within a certain time-frame depending on the pick-up round and traffic.
Additional hours on request, when possible each extra hour cost Euro 90/-.
Some of tours need to cross over the country border, in case of border control we recommend you to carry passport.
