Itinerary

From Salzburg we follow the Salzach upstream passing through huge walls of rock which hold the largest known Ice Caves in the world, pass the Werfen Castle (movie location of the 1968 film Where Eagles Dare), the route takes us by many famous ski regions.
The 48km and 36 hairpin bends of the Grossglockner High Alpine Road lead to a view of Austria’s highest mountain (3798 m) and the longest glacier in the Eastern Alps. Our first stop is at the road’s highest point, the Edelweiss Peak at 2571m to enjoy the panoramic views of more than 30 peaks above 3000 meters. The Grossglockner High Alpine Road itself is much more than just a road. It is an internationally acclaimed masterpiece of road construction. We continue to the end of the road where we can look down over the Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe Pasterze Glacier and up at the majestic peaks of Hohe Tauern National Park. Weather permitting the Grossglockner itself will be visible.
An optional visit is the 10 minute walk to the Swarovski Observatory. On request some short stops to satisfy the keen photographers can be made. Sometimes even Marmots and Ibexes can be seen.
On our way back we take you to the lakeside alpine town of Zell am See, a world famous tourist destination as well as a climatic health resort. We continue to Salzburg crossing over the German border and passing some Bavarian villages
Coming to the end of this big scenery day, for sure this Grossglockner Tour gives you memories to treasure forever. Then we return to Salzburg and you will be dropped off near Mirabel Gardens

Important Info

Please be prepared there 30 min. prior to tour start (morning tour at 08:30 and for afternoon tour 13:30) for pick-up. You either can be the 1^st ones to be picked up or within a certain time-frame depending on the pick-up round and traffic.
Additional hours on request, when possible each extra hour cost Euro 90/-.
Some of tours need to cross over the country border, in case of border control we recommend you to carry passport.
Please inform us in case you want to take baby with you, we will try to arrange a suitable baby seat.
