Highlights

Salzkammergut is one of Austria’s most beautiful areas. The region around lake Wolfgangsee is world famous for operettas, movies and the Mozart family. In Advent the villages St. Gilgen, Strobl and St. Wolfgang are linked by the lake boats and turn into an unforgettable world of candles, lights and smells, artisanal products and local delicacies, making it even more Christmassy.

Itinerary

After a 45 minutes scenic drive from Salzburg we first stop at the Mozart village St. Gilgen. The market stalls are elaborately painted inspired by the art of three-dimensional wall and ceiling paintings from the Baroque era with authentic Christmas decoration.
Then enjoy the rustic village of Strobl which turns into a live nativity scene. You will be fascinated by the scenery at the lake shore with many live animals and the Star of Bethlehem. From here you take the boat to St. Wolfgang, the romantic Village of Stars. You will pass the big Peace-lantern and it is worthwhile looking back at the huge comet above Strobl bay. At St. Wolfgang candles and torches create a special atmosphere. You can watch craftsmen at work and children can write a letter to the Christkind (Christ Child), the youngest assisted by angels
Inspired by the multifaceted Advent impressions you will return to Salzburg.

Important Info

Please be prepared there 30 min. prior to tour start (morning tour at 08:30 and for afternoon tour 13:30) for pick-up. You either can be the 1^st ones to be picked up or within a certain time-frame depending on the pick-up round and traffic.
Additional hours on request, when possible each extra hour cost Euro 90/-.
Some of tours need to cross over the country border, in case of border control we recommend you to carry passport.
Please inform us in case you want to take baby with you, we will try to arrange a suitable baby seat.
Available Advent and Christmas Markets in all villages:
St. Wolfgang market is open every day from November 20th to December 20th, 2020
St. Gilgen and Strobl markets are open Thursday to Sunday and 8th December.
New Year’s Eve Markets: December 26th to December 31st, 2020 (St. Gilgen and St. Wolfgang)
