The 48 kilometers long high alpine pass road with 36 hairpin bends the Grossglockner High Alpine Road to get up to “Top of Austria”. Grossglockner is Austria’s highest mountain with the longest glacier in the Eastern Alps. The high alpine environment with great panoramic views, the specific flora and fauna you will experience the world of alpine meadows, forests, mountains, eternal ice, and spectacular views. The information centres make this tour an outstanding one.
We make a stop at Edelweissspitze which provides 360° spectacular views onto more than thirty peaks over 3000 meters. After lunch break at the panoramic restaurant we will go farther to Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe where eventually you will stand in front of the majestic highest peak 3800m (12 430 ft) with a view to the longest glacier in the Eastern Alps. If we are lucky even Marmots and Ibexes can be seen.
The second part of the tour we take a different route via Hohe Tauern valley passing through plenty of beautiful ski villages until Krimml to see the Krimml Waterfalls. These breathtaking waterfalls – one of the biggest in Europe – waterfall drop of 1250 ft (380 meters) in three steps – are a must-see.
