ROMANTIC EUROPE TOUR ITINERARY FOR “HONEYMOONERS”

This tour should be the most important and memorable trip of your life, a real honeymoon with romantic moments to create the holiday for a couple to treasure forever.

  • ZURICH – LUCERNE

    Meet and greet service by your chauffeur-guide at the airport. Depending on your arrival time, show off the Zurich City highlights and then transfer to the central Swiss city of Lucerne.
    Then this evening we have your first honeymoon event with a romantic boat cruise on Lake Lucerne. We stay two nights in Lucerne.

  • LUCERNE – GRINDELWALD – LAUTERBRUNNEN – LUCERNE

    We make a brief orientation tour of Lucerne including the old town with its Chapel Bridge and the Lion Monument. Then today’s programme takes us through a paradise of lakes, mountains and glaciers in the Bernese Alpes. We visit charming Bernese towns and villages such as Interlaken Grindelwald or Lauterbrunnen. Lauterbrunnen is known as the valley of 72 waterfalls.This area gives us access to Top of Europe Jungfraujoch, the Staubbach Falls, the Trummelbach Falls and the Murrenbach Falls. Also nearby is the village of Murren with Mount Schilthorn and its revolving panoramic restaurant, used in the 1969 James Bond movie “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service”. The Trummelbach Falls is rather special as a series of waterfalls inside the mountain in a cave-like environment. Melt water flowing down from Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau form a powerful raging torrent that carries water 20 000 litres per second through the caves. The torrent carved its way through solid rock over thousands of years and sculpted elegant and impressive rock formations. The result is spectacular and the thunder from crashing waters deafening. For adventure lovers in this area we also have the chance of paragliding and white water rafting.

  • LUCERNE – LAKE BODENSEE – MUNICH

    Today we leave Switzerland heading for Munich passing Bodensee also known as Lake Constance. It’s a lake between 3 countries. We will cross the western corner of Austria by the city of Bregenz. We could spend some leisure time by the lake giving a suitable lunch spot or further on our route at Bregenz, Lindau or Memmingen. Then onto the Bavarian capital city of Munich where a highlight would be strolling in the Marienplatz area which also has many beer halls and restaurants.

  • MUNICH – WATTENS – KRIMML – ZELL AM SEE

    Heading from Bavaria into Tyrol, we have a choice of routes Bad Tolz, Bad Wiessee or Schliersee, or for less driving time with the highway, taking us to the valley of the river Inn. At Wattens we visit the Swarovski Crystal Worlds then through the Gerlos Pass to the Krimml Waterfalls and further east to Zell am See, the regional capital of Pinzgau. We stay the night at this lakeside Alpine town.

  • ZELL AM SEE – SALZBURG

    The day begins with a visit to Mount Kitzsteinhorn giving the chance to play in snow, and by fine weather take in super views of distant peaks. Then on to Salzburg, the Baroque city of Mozart, followed by a city tour and visiting film locations from “The Sound of Music” including St.Gilgen and Mondsee. We stay the night in Salzburg, a great place for an evening stroll in the Mirabell Gardens and the Old Town.

  • SALZBURG – BLED – LJUBLJANA – POSTOJNA

    We head south from Salzburg following its river upstream to the village of Werfen where we can visit either the Castle or the Ice Caves, then we cross the state of Carinthia leaving Austria we enter Slovenia. We make a stop at the Alpine resort of Bled. A scenic lakeside town with Slovenia’s only island. So photogenic! Then we are off to see the capital city Ljubljana with a riverside walk in the old town. We continue to Postojna where we stay the night.

  • POSTOJNA – TRIESTE – VENICE

    First is a visit to the Postojna caves, 24km of passages, galleries and magnificent halls. After the caves options include a visit to the nearby Predjama Castle or on the way towards Trieste to take a tour of the Stud Farm at Lipica which is the origin of the famous Lipizzana horses, used by the Imperial Court in Vienna. Crossing into Italy we make an orientation tour of the historic city of Trieste then arriving in the romantic city of Venice, an enchanting walk between the canals looking for a cosy restaurant for dinner. We stay overnight in Venice.

  • VENICE – VERONA – BOLOGNA – FLORENCE

    This morning we take a late start so as to spend a little more time at leisure in St Mark’s Square, known as the Piazza. Today a highlight for romantics is visiting Verona, renowned for its tragic love story of Romeo and Juliet. Juliet’s family home with its bronze statue of Juliet are in the centre of town. Heading south the Ferrari museum and factory tour may be possible on the way to Bologna. An orientation drive through Bologna in the afternoon then entering the heart of Tuscany to the city of Leonardo Da Vinci. Before descending into the beautiful and historic city of Florence guests may choose to stop at the Piazzale Michelangelo to inhale the view and atmosphere of the city below.

  • FLORENCE – SAN GIMIGNANO – TUSCANY – SIENA – BOLSENA

    Florence is the capital of Tuscany and the birthplace of the Renaissance. Things to see include the Uffizi Gallery, cathedral, palaces, museums and the old bridge Ponte Vecchio.Today we drive through the beautiful landscape of Tuscany. First stop is San Gimignano, the Town of Towers. A medieval town sitting on a hill. Next stop is Siena, a city known for its cuisine, art, museums, medieval cityscape and a medieval horse race. A visit to Café Nannini is a place to try local specialities such as Panforte Ricciarelli. We continue south leaving Tuscany, we come to the lake and town of Bolsena with ancient history and stories of miracles. This is another romantic location, staying at a lakeside hotel in Bolsena.A lake view room at Hotel Lido Beach and Palace can be most pleasing.

  • BOLSENA – ROME – VATICAN

    An easy ride to Rome,the Italian capital, of ancient and imperial fame. There is so much to see. Rome in a day with the Colosseum and the smallest country in the world, The Vatican City with its St Peter’s Square. Ancient Roman architecture in the ruins, palaces, fountains and squares for you to walk through and marvel at.

  • ROME – SANTA MARINELLA – PIOMBINO – PISA

    An wonderful drive along the Mediterranean coast the scenic route north passing through many beautiful little Italian villages. Stops may include the small beach town of Santa Marinella, the little city of Piombino, and a real Italian food experience for lunch. We end the day at leisure to enjoy Pisa, renowned for its Leaning Tower, we are staying the night here.

  • PISA – GENOA – MILAN

    We continue along the Italian Riviera to the old port town of Genoa. The highlights of Genoa are around the port and the main square, Piazza de Ferrari. The basil leaf paste called Pesto originates from Genoa. After the Genovese sights we head inland to Milan with the chance to visit its Cathedral and shopping area. Although strong in fashion, design and finance, it is rich in art and culture. We stay our last night in Italy here.

  • MILAN – LAKE COMO – MENDRISIO – LAKE LUGANO – LOCARNO – ZURICH

    Today we leave the lowlands and cross incredible landscape between Italy and Switzerland passing through an area with stunning lakes on our way to Zurich. Highpoints, detours and stops may include Lake Como, Lake Lugano, or Locarno on Lake Maggiore, or even a visit to Mendrisio with its FoxTown Factory outlet stores for shopping before you set off home. For those interested in adventure, in the opening scene of the 1995 Bond movie Golden Eye, the bungee jumping stunt at Lake Locarno was voted as the best movie stunt of all time in a poll of 2002 made by Sky Movies.   • ZURICH – AIRPORT TRANSFER

    Depending on your departure time things to do in Zurich could include the old town. The town hall and lakeside promenades are enchanting. Bahnhofstrasse is the main old shopping street.Even a final romantic boat ride on Lake Zurich.
